APPLICATION

Surface Preparation

Before application, the surface must have reached its full strength; dust, shavings, and construction or cement residues must be scraped off and cleaned with a brush, and all adhesion-reducing substances must be removed.

Mortar Preparation and Application

Packaged in suitable quantities as two components. If only part of the product in the package is to be used, Resin A and Hardener B must be mixed at a ratio of 100/4 by weight. The two components must be mixed for at least 3 minutes with a drill fitted with a mixing paddle at 400-600 rpm until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

Mixing Ratios

Fugafix Epoksi Component A, 5 kg epoxy resin

Fugafix Epoksi Component B, 0.2 kg epoxy hardener

Application as a Ceramic Tile Adhesive

FUGAFIX EPOKSİ® is applied in the same manner as cement-based ceramic tile adhesives. After mixing, the material is spread with a suitable notched trowel and the tiles are bonded. On critical substrates and in areas subject to heavy loads, a thin skim coat of the material is applied to the bonding area with the flat side of the trowel; epoxy mortar is then placed on top, spread with a notched trowel, and the tiles are bonded. After the material has been spread with the notched trowel, the tiles must be bonded quickly and must not be bonded onto material that has begun to dry.

Application as a Grout

FUGAFIX EPOKSİ® is filled into the joints using a plastic or hard-rubber float or a cartridge gun. Excess material is scraped from the joints. In deep joints, the initially applied material settles inside the joint. Ensure that the joint is completely filled. Depending on the ambient and surface temperature, wait approximately 15-25 minutes; then clean the surface with a suitable sponge and detergent water and give the joints their final shape. The soiled sponge must be replaced frequently during cleaning. Wiping can be performed more quickly with hot water.

Cleaning the Tiles

Epoxy-based grouts form a film on the tiles. This film must be cleaned thoroughly. If cleaning is delayed, it becomes very difficult. Approximately 5 hours after application, the final film on the tiles must be cleaned with a suitable sponge and hot detergent water; thesurface must then be wiped after adding 10% alcohol to the final cleaning water.

RECOMMENDATION

·       FUGAFIX EPOKSİ® must be mixed using a suitable mixing drill.

·       Must never be mixed by hand or with a trowel.

·       The working and curing times of epoxy-resin-based products depend on the ambient and substrate temperatures.

·       No foreign material (water, lime, cement, gypsum, etc.) must be added to the prepared mortar.

·       Product approaching the end of its pot life (an A+B mixture whose temperature has begun to rise) must not be used.

·       After curing, FUGAFIX EPOKSİ® can only be removed from the surface by mechanical methods.

·       Application at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C is recommended.

·       In all applications where the surroundings or air are hot, the A+B mixture must be divided into small quantities to prevent the risk of premature setting.

·       Before mixing Component A with Component B, the temperature of each component must be checked. Components heated by sunlight or stored in a very hot warehouse must first be cooled with water. Mixing may begin when the temperature of the components is 20-23 °C or lower.

·       Do not inhale directly. Due to their irritating effects, cured materials must not come into contact with the eyes. In case of contact, rinse with plenty of water.

·       Application areas must be ventilated.

·       In dairy production facilities, contact the manufacturer for technical guidance before application as a grout.

·       For further information, request the product safety data sheet.

·       Please consult us regarding all other application conditions and for your technical questions.
